Fuquay-Varina man makes court appearance, faces murder charges

On Wednesday afternoon, the Fuquay-Varina man accused of killing a woman appeared in a Wake County courtroom.

Noa Lorenzetti is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of a 23-year-old mother of two.

Lorenzetti will be getting an attorney from the capitol defender’s office.

On Wednesday, he was in court for less than one minute. That was long enough for 26-year-old Lorenzetti to hear the charges straight from a judge, first-degree murder, in the death of 23-year-old Tyra Bennett.

Lorenzetti faces these charges both in front of his family, and the family of the woman he’s accused of killing, including her father, Tysean.

"We're going to do everything we can to raise my grandkids," Tysean Bennett said. "And let them know that their mom is a wonderful person, and she was taken away from us way too soon."

Tyra Bennett’s body was found Monday morning in the woods just off Camley Ave. Lorenzetti was arrested just hours later.

As he left court Wednesday, he looked back one last time before being led away, facing these families, and a long battle in court.

"As long as justice is served, that’s all we ask," Tysean Bennett said.

Lorenzetti will have his next appearance in court on May 29 at 9 a.m.

The Bennett family has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for Tyra’s funeral.
