Alzheimer's Association advocates to push lawmakers for more support, funding Tuesday

On Tuesday, Alzheimer's advocates from across the state will be in Raleigh asking lawmakers for more help fighting the disease.

More than 200,000 people in North Carolina are living with Alzheimer’s disease. This from the Alzheimer’s Association.

Advocates will meet with lawmakers at the Legislative Building to share their stories and speak with legislators on behalf of all the families who are impacted.

They’re requesting updates to the state’s Dementia-Capable Plan every four years. That plan includes help for clinical trials and treatment.

They’re also requesting funds for a program that supports caregivers across North Carolina.

Hundreds of people participated in the annual walk to end Alzheimer’s this past year in Raleigh – raising awareness and funds to help people who are impacted by the disease.

Advocates will take the podium here at the museum starting at 9 a.m.
